App of the Week

In this segment I will tell you about one of the apps we use in the classroom to help your children learn and use language.  Our first App of the Week is:
Endless Alphabet!
It's a free app or you can choose to upgrade for $.99 to a version with no ads.  This is a great little app that teaches your children fancy vocabulary words like timid, quarrel, pester, gargantuan, and journey with funny little monsters that have them giggling the whole time.  It also teaches your children their letters and letter sounds.

What we did over summer vacation

Today we worked on sharing some of our experiences we had over summer vacation.  The students did a great job!  Some wrote words, some drew pictures, and some did a combination.  It was all wonderful and it was all great literacy skills.  Here is a sampling.

A student shares about spending time with his family and dog.

A student shares about swimming at the local pool.

A student shares about working in her Daddy's garden.

Welcome

Welcome families to a new school year.  We are looking forward to learning and growing together.  With this blog I will keep you up to date on classroom activities and special events as well as share your children's work and accomplishments.  As the school year progresses, your children will learn how blog themselves and post things directly.  It's an exciting, technology-driven world we live in!
